Patoo keeps each school's records separate from every other school's, lets in only the people the school invites, and is designed around Jamaica's Data Protection Act 2020.

Each school's records are kept apart from every other school's, and an automatic test checks this.
- Invite-only sign-in
Principals invite staff and parents. Parents see only their own children.
- Two-step sign-in for leaders
Leaders also use a code from an app on their phone.
- A log of every change
Patoo keeps a permanent activity log of who changed what.
- Sensitive notes locked
Health, guidance, discipline and child-protection notes are open only to the staff who need them.
- Years can be closed
A closed school year is locked, so old marks and records cannot be changed by accident.

Who is in charge of the records.
Your school is in charge of its students' records. Patoo looks after them for the school. Patoo is designed around the Data Protection Act 2020, but using Patoo does not make a school follow the Act by itself. The school still has its own duties, such as who it gives access to and how long it keeps records. Ask us if you want to talk through what your board needs to know.

Can one school see another school's students?
No. Each school's records are kept apart, and an automatic test checks it.
Who can see a student's health or guidance notes?
Only the staff the school allows. Health, guidance, discipline and child-protection notes are locked to the people who need them, and every change is written in the activity log.
Are our records backed up?
Yes. Patoo is backed up every night. The copies are encrypted and kept off the server.
Does Patoo follow the Data Protection Act 2020?
Patoo is designed around the Act. Your school is still responsible for how it uses its students' records, and we are glad to talk through what your board needs to know.
